Grundig adds numerous versions to Vision 6 series

Nuremberg, 28th August 2008: Even in the basic version, the Grundig Vision 6 family meets nearly all requirements for modern LCD TVs. Grundig has now added three new versions, ensuring that every wish is fulfilled with the purchase of a Vision 6. In November, a version with MPEG 4 HD reception will reach the shops, the Vision 6 will be available with an energy-saving ECO panel already in October. In 2009 the LCD TV family will also be available with a combination tuner for DVB-T and digital cable reception (DVB-C).

The basic version of Vision 6 is designed for analogue as well as digital reception and covers reception types that are currently most prevalent in Europe with the integrated DVB-T receiver. The additional tuner for digital cable reception (DVB-C) is Grundig’s reaction to the increasing spread of this type of reception, which offers users numerous additional options apart from TV reception. The Vision 6 with combination tuner will be available in 26", 32", 37" and 42".

DVB-T with MPEG 4 reception
In the autumn, Grundig will launch the Vision 6 DVB-T MPEG 4, an LCD TV that can receive and process high resolution MPEG 4 signals from the digital terrestrial transmitter. The MPEG 4 receiver allows the Vision 6 to process terrestrially transmitted HD signals as well as traditional SD signals. This means that there is a noticeable increase in the image quality of HD-transmitted programs on the WXGA panel of the Vision 6. At present, DVB-T in Germany transmits only SD signals, but other countries have already determined to supply HDTV signals through digital terrestrial television. Germany will follow this trend in the foreseeable future. This means that a Vision 6 with MPEG 4 receiver is future-proof; it already uses MPEG 2 to receive SD signals, and it is prepared for the television of the future.

Vision 6 ECO: up to 50 percent lower energy consumption
Today, televisions use far less energy than ten years ago. However, every kilowatt saved is easy on your purse and the environment. This is why the 26" and 32" Vision 6 ECO are equipped with energy-saving panels. As a result, the Vision 6 ECO family consumes up to 48 percent less energy during TV operation than a comparable standard LCD TV; as much as a 75 watt light bulb. A computer is a veritable power guzzler in comparison. Grundig has also prescribed a radical diet in stand-by operation for the Vision 6 ECO: at less than 0.1 watts, the power consumption of this appliance in stand-by mode is far below the standard values.
