Next generation hi-fi system

The Audion 8 hi-fi server brings all music sources of a home together

Nuremberg, 28th August 2008: Today, music comes from a variety of sources: CDs, radio, the internet, external hard drives, MP3 players and computers. Grundig’s Audion 8 hi-fi server combines all these sources, allowing them to be accessed easily and played back beautifully.

A self-contained music system, the Audion 8 hi-fi server contains a CD recorder and an integrated hard drive with at least 250 GB of memory. Thanks to its LAN and WLAN capability, its great strength lies in its interplay with external storage media, with computers connected to the network, and with the internet. As an UPnP server, the Audion 8 can manage your entire MP3 collection and make all tracks available in your private network. This does not exclude your CD collection; the Audion 8 allows you to convert audio CDs quickly and easily into MP3 format and then store the music files on the integrated hard drive, or on external storage media such as USB sticks or MP3 players.

It uses the Freedb internet database to recognise the track and artist of the stored MP3 files. In the rare case that the database does not contain such ID3 tag information for a track or an artist, you can edit the data on a computer or laptop. As the Audion 8 can use the network to access all connected computers, it can also utilise the information stored there. Naturally, you can also access music files on the hi-fi server from your computer, which allows you to listen to music on your computer speakers, for example. Grundig’s internet radios, such as the Ovation CDS 9000 WEB, the portable Cosmopolit 7 or the Sonoclock 890 WEB kitchen ratio, can also access the Audion 8 via the LAN or WLAN network, so your MP3 collection is available anywhere in your home.

If you want to take your music with you, for instance when driving or jogging, the Audion 8 allows you to make individual compilations. Using the USB port, you can then copy the files to an MP3 player or a USB memory stick; or you can use the CD recorder on the Audion 8 to create an MP3 CD.

Internet radio with more than 10,000 stations
However much music you have saved on your network, there is always more. And the Audion 8 offers a limitless selection; after all, the hi-fi server is an internet radio with access to more than 10,000 radio stations from around the world. The convenient menu makes it quick and easy to find a station to suit every taste in music and every interest. It also offers access to the podcasts made available by radio stations, so you can listen to news and information programs, and to music, whenever you like.

The Audion 8 is controlled using a clearly structured remote control and the large graphic display. Additional devices can be connected via the USB port or the AUX input, so the Audion 8 hi-fi server can play back every audio medium imaginable.
